The Marriage Course is a series of eight modules, is designed to help couples invest in their relationship and build a strong marriage and family. 

 

The course is designed to help couples build strong marriage and family foundations, learn to communicate more effectively and resolve conflict and differences.

Goal

1. The Mawaddah Marriage Course is based on Islamic principles and scientific data. It is designed for all couples with or without Islamic background.

2. We also welcome married couples who are yet to have children.

3. The Mawaddah Marriage Course is targeting young married couples below the age of 40 years old irrespective of their years of marriage. 

Objectives

1. To assist married couples to understand the underlying meaning behind the reality of marriage and family.

2. To highlight measures for couples who seek for advices to strengthen their relationship.

3. To aid couples who intentionally invest in their relationship facts about family structures from scientific point of view and address more specific challenges within a family life.

4. To offers essential tools and practical ideas to help couples building a relationship that lasts a lifetime.

OUTCOME & IMPACT

1. To establish IIUM as the referral and consultation centre in issues related to marriage and family irrespective of ethnicity, economic status and cultural background.

2. To establish mutual collaboration with governmental bodies, ministries and private corporations to conduct marriage courses to employees.

3. To develop marriage happiness index as a reference to assist religious departments in organising future pre-marriage courses.

4. The first comprehensive course for already-Muslim-married-couples conducted in the country (as compared to Module Bahtera Kasih by LPPKN and Module Pasca Perkahwinan by JAIS).

5. The course will be tailored to the need of target participants in terms of marital duration and age of married couples.

6. The first marriage course that integrate the concept of family building from the perspective of Islamic revealed knowledge and science.

INDICATORS

High score in marriage happiness index.

TARGET

To introduce and expose young married couples on the importance of reproductive health-care services like family-planning. It is vital to plan the family that can help in reducing strain and disorder within family sphere. 

Providing Young married couples who are married from day 1 up to 10 years, with or without Islamic background. 

Preparing young married couples, both man and woman, with accurate knowledge on marriage life, parenthood, parenting, managing stress, and reduce the feelings of being. Reviving young married couples of their responsibilities, roles and functions.
